What the rules actually say
Up to 1 MW of commercial solar — STCs, not “FTCs”
From 1 October 2026, eligible solar above 100 kW and up to 1 MW can receive upfront STCs under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The government puts that at about 20% off a mid-sized system. It is not a green-bank cheque, and it is not automatic. Over 1 MW stays on large-scale certificates. Batteries are a separate program. The electrician checks the site before anyone talks discount.

Five years trading, electrician on the quote, own warehouse, 200+ five-star reviews, ten-year workmanship warranty, dedicated support, CEC approval and SAA accreditation. The brief is only shared after that check.
Do you brief commercial sites, not only homes?
Yes. Mechanics, car washes, dealerships, warehouses and industrial estates can take the same brief. The electrician designs from daytime load, roof and future demand.
Can a business claim a megawatt of FTCs?
Not under that name. From 1 October 2026, eligible commercial solar above 100 kW and up to 1 MW can receive upfront small-scale technology certificates (STCs) under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The old cap was 100 kW. The government has said this is about a 20% cut on a mid-sized system. It is not the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, and it is not an automatic payment. Systems over 1 MW stay on large-scale certificates. Batteries are a separate federal program. A designer checks whether the site actually qualifies.
Why this exists
A salesman sells a package. An electrician designs the system you need.
Peak hours, a pool in January, an EV next year, a workshop that runs all day. That is what the advice is based on. The price comes after the design.
